I love the challenge of drawing animals from life – the results may be variable, but if I get it right then I can give an impression of who that animal is.
This is a sample from my sketchbooks, where I have had a go at capturing a whole menagerie – not just the usual suspects, but also farm animals and even wildlife. I have had a go at a wide range of animals, from mice to a rhinoceros!
These are also the kinds of sketches from life that I do if I work with commissioned subjects.
